My home network has seen many changes over the years. Today, it consists of a DSL line being shared through a 802.11a-n router that has connected to it my web/shell/ftp server, my workstation and the rest of my family's computers. For over a year now, my web server has sat in my bedroom, causing the room's temperature to rise quite significantly. The added heat, coupled with the noise of the fans, is quite annoying.

However, I've finally relocated the entire setup to my dad's office. An AT&T technician came two days ago to run the phone line to his office that the DSL connection requires. My workstation now uses the Linksys WUSB54GC to provide me with Internet access. It worked right out of the box with Ubuntu Linux, which saved me a headache or two!

So now my bedroom is cooler, less-cluttered and far more peaceful! I love it...

I doubt this site has any regular readers anymore. I make this assertion based off the fact that... well... there hasn't been anything new to read in ages! I know I've said this before, but I promise to end this streak of bloglessness starting now!

My long-time interests in all things tech (Linux, Free/Open Source Software, GNU, etc.) were once a staple of my daily life. Sadly, I must say that I haven't been coding like I used to and I certainly haven't been trying to push the limits *nix quite as much, either. Why such a decline?

I guess the answer is pretty simple. As we get older, our interests, as well as our priorities, take on many changes. In school, my focus lately has been in pursuing my second degree in Italian Language and Cultural Studies. In my free time, I've been doing a lot more socializing and a lot less computing. However, both my personal and scholastic life are starting to return to a more geeky state, especially since I've begun working on computers (for money) again, too.

Add this all up, and I'd say we've got the recipe for a beautiful comeback for backdrifts.net!
